First timer

I took Sophie on a run this morning.  It’s not her first time running, but the first that’s timed with the Forerunner 305 GPS watch.  During the run she said “daddy, I don’t have a watch like you”.  So I told her when I can afford the next model, she can wear this one.  Here are the stats: 0.39 miles at her own pace of 21:52 min/mile (Not bad considering almost half was uphill!) In a couple of years, she might win her division at the upcoming Wharf to Wharf (www.wharftowharf.com).

New friends

Oliver is becoming much more interactive. Here he looks like he’s playing with Jimmy, but I think he really just wants to hold on to the ball before he falls backwards.

4th of July Bash

Families that came to our 4th of July Celebration (thanks Anoop for taking the pictures!)  Afterwards, we went to see fireworks a mile away at the Sharon Heights Country Club.  Sophie was scared, but I did convince her to peek at the last few minutes of it.

Raw

For my birthday, dad took us to Sam’s Chowderhouse in Half-Moon Bay  (www.samschowderhouse.com).  It’s well known for it’s lobster roll- it was very good but I thought it was overpriced.  The better deal was the New England clam chowder- yummy!  Here’s a pic of the raw stuff (that I shared with dad).Raw platter

Birthday run

This morning, I joined the 6 am group to run 8 miles of trails in Portola Valley (Razorback to Hamms Gulch).  After several switchbacks, I was quickly reminded of my aging body and the condition I’m in versus 10 years ago.  I am probably 15 seconds slower per mile.  But maybe this is just my mind messing with me, 20 minutes into the climb.  This group typically sprints on the hill, at least that’s what it felt like.  On the descent, my heels burned and had blisters forming on the balls of my feet.  Too bad I couldn’t take my phone with me to take some pics but the views were spectacular, as always.  I’m so lucky to live 5 miles from this runner’s paradise.  These pics are taken from another website, check out the trail:  http://www.weekendhike.com/2007/04/portola-valley-hamms-gulch-trail.html

Fruits of labor

Sophie helped plant some strawberries last year and now she’s reaping the rewards (~6-8 strawberries every other day or so).  No one else has tasted these, that tells you how good they are!Iphone pictures 189

Downward dog

Sophie has taken up yoga, all by herself- already has treehugger tendencies.  No idea where she learns these things but now she knows more yoga poses than I do.  Next time ask her to demonstrate downward dog so she can show off.Downward dog

Finished product

Sophie picked out everything, from bed to pink sheets and butterfly blanket.  It tooka while and some back and forth vs. the disney princess theme (whew!), she’s finally pleased with the result.  And of course so are we!Sophie's new bed

Little helper

Sophie is a great help around the house. Here she is putting together her own bed, instructions, hammer, screws and all. Maybe she’ll end up handier than daddy!

Carnival

We took the kids to the Nativity Carnival a couple miles from the house and met up with some friends.  Couldn’t believe that we talked Sophie into getting on one of the tamest rides there with Emma.
